Process Intelligence, Modelling & Optimisation (PRIMO) Group

focuses on fundamental problems and development of technologies for process intelligence, modelling and optimisation and their application in practice.
Application areas include business processes, office automation, workflow and adaptive case management, logistics, bioinformatics, security, emergency management, container stowing.
Our research is executed through foundational as well as strategic research projects. We draw requirements and motivation from strategic projects and make an impact on the reality through collaboration with industrial partners (in research projects and industrial PhD projects), seminars oriented towards industry (in innovation networks such as
) and involvement in standardisation processes, e.g. by contributing to W3C and OMG standards.
The scientific disciplines and research areas currently covered by PRIMO group are Algorithm Engineering, Artificial Intelligence,
Bayesian modelling and inference,
Behavioural Types, Business and Workflow Process Modelling, Concurrency Theory,
Logic, Machine Learning,
Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and
Optimisation. The group was formed in May 2017 after an organisational restructuring at ITU and replaces the
Process and System Models Group
